Revision
For this project I tried to focus on using different mediums as a comparison and also working on perspective and drawing shells. I have never drawn a shell before for some reason so I figured this was a good time to do it. I figured I would struggle the most with the shell from the side angle, and I did. I ended up doing it though, and I don't love it, but I did enjoy doing it. I did it in colored pencil, which is probably one of my least favorite mediums to work with. I like how the inside edge turned out a lot on that one. I haven't done a project in just colored pencils since draw 1 I don't think so. It was good to practice it again, but I still don't like it much. I did a sketch shell from a top angle in graphite and I like it, but it doesn't match the color scheme of the rest of the shells that I tried to keep consistent. The two in marker, one with Sharpie and the other with the better drawing markers, I don't like a whole lot. The colors were misleading on the packaging and were much brighter than I thought they would be. Its hard to blend with sharpie, so that isn't present in that shell at all and if there was a way to do it, I'd love to try. For this reason it is also one of my least favorite mediums to use. I have never really used nice drawing markers so that was a learning experience. I imagine that if I were to use them more often and get more experience with them I'd be able to use them more effectively than I did on that shell but I don't like how that shell turned out. My favorites were the painted shells, which I figured I would like more because those are my preferred mediums. I got more practice with watercolors with the shell on the top and I liked the way it turned out. My favorite shell was the middle one that is cut in half with acrylic and water color pencils. I like how I can see side by side how they look next to each other, and how they both turned out. It was probably my favorite one to do. I also haven't used acrylics in a while so it was fun. I need to get back into practice with those. I enjoyed this project even though I had about one week less to work on it that most of the people in the class because of the airport contest and I enjoy how it turned out. I liked practicing with a shell and having it be an actual object to help work on perspective and experimenting with different mediums.
